SUMMARY:Volunteer: Salmon Watch
DESCRIPTION:Salmon Watch is an award-winning outdoor environmental education program founded in 1993 that brings middle and high school students outdoors to natural stream sites to witness wild salmon spawning and learn about Pacific Northwest ecology. This season\, Salmon Watch is hosting over 50 field trips with 21 schools at beautiful Pacific Northwest stream sites\, getting over 1\,700 students outdoors to connect with and learn about the natural world. \nFour volunteer educators teach on each field trip (avg. 7:1 instructor-student ratio)\, facilitating the field trip learning stations: salmon biology\, macroinvertebrate identification\, water quality testing\, and riparian observation/nature awareness. Anyone can teach on a Salmon Watch field trip. SUMMARY:Down The River Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:The Clackamas River Basin Council will be co-hosting a VERY important event that has occured on our River since 2003 called the Down The River Cleanup. This is an event that\, with the help up hundreds of participants each year\, covers the Clackamas River from MiloMcIver Park in Estacada all the way to the mouth at Clackamette Park in Gladstone and results in TONS of trash going to the dump and recycling instead of languishing in our precious resource. \nVolunteering can take all forms from holding down the registration table at a put in site to paddling the river to helping participants sort their finds at the end. At the end\, there will be a free BBQ party just for you and 200 of your closest friends at Barton Park. \nGrab your friends and family and signup for the Down the River Cleanup.
