SUMMARY:Shared Responsibility\, Global Solidarity; A Virtual Dialogue on SDG17 and Public Private Partnerships: COVID-19 Response and Recovery in the Framework of the 2030 Agenda
DESCRIPTION:Join our webinar that aims to provide ideas about how partnerships can be catalyzed and scaled up in the COVID-19 era to advance the 2030 agenda. \nThe unfolding pandemic crisis has challenged national governments\, the international community and the business community in fundamental ways. All attention is now turned to solidarity in meeting urgent health and economic needs of people. Launching a global COVID-19 response is now an imperative and overarching focus for the United Nations\, as it is for global business. \nEffective pandemic response and recovery alongside the Decade of Delivery and Action\, relies on making “business as usual” obsolete for both the private sector and the international community. Inclusive multilateralism is needed now more than ever\, including through animating shared value partnerships across governments\, inter-governmental bodies\, business and other stakeholders. \nOrganized by UN DESA\, IOE\, USCIB’s All In 2020 Campaign and the Business Partners for Sustainable Development (BPSD)\, this virtual dialogue will provide ideas about how such partnerships can be catalyzed and scaled up to advance the 2030 Agenda and inform the future work of the HLPF. \nApril 29th\, 9:00 AM-10:30 AM \nRegister here

SUMMARY:CCL Virtual Earth Day: Uniting from Home
DESCRIPTION:Are you in need of climate hope? \nCitizens Climate Lobby is hosting a virtual earth event day this year. Included in this community event; climate advocate training\, CCL volunteer spotlight panel\, a 90 minute session titled “Climate Organizing during the Pandemic”\, and a two hour session titled “Depolarizing Within: A Better Way to Prepare for Climate Discussions” presented by Braver Angels. \nWith social distancing during the COVID-19 crisis precluding in-person events and celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day\, CCL will host a special online event on April 25 at 1 p.m. ET: Uniting from Home: A virtual CCL event with Katharine Hayhoe. \nAfter hearing from CCL Executive Director Mark Reynolds and Dr. Hayhoe\, participants will be invited to take an action. They can then join one of several breakout sessions for special training\, including Climate Advocate Training for those who are new to CCL. Other sessions will be led by Better Angels and CCL staff. We’ll also have a panel of volunteers who are featured in our video documentaries. \nCCL volunteers are encouraged to invite others to this special event. \n“Because of Earth Day\, April is usually one of our biggest months for grassroots outreach\,” said Madeleine Para\, CCL VP for Programs. “This year\, of course\, our volunteers won’t be able to do that kind of outreach\, so we hope this event will give everyone an opportunity to introduce friends and neighbors to CCL.” \nRegistration now open for our event on April 25th. SUMMARY:Earth Day 2020
DESCRIPTION:The coronavirus pandemic has upended our lives. Just a week or so ago\, individuals in countries around the world were going to bars\, seeing movies with friends and\, really\, just going about business as usual. Now\, all that has changed. \nAmid the COVID-19 outbreak\, many health experts and government officials are suggesting\, and sometimes mandating\, that we practice social distancing to flatten the curve of the outbreak — preventing a surge of infected patients that overwhelm our hospitals. In other words\, that means we stay at home and limit nearly all in-person social interactions. \nBut as we exercise our individual and collective responsibility to reduce viral transmissions to preserve human health\, we can still exercise our responsibility to act for environmental health. We can use this solitary time to reassess our current habits and develop new ones that are better for the planet. Below are 11 ways to take action for the planet while social distancing — we hope they’ll stick\, even after our global health crisis subsides. \nCheck out 11 actions you can take here.

We also know that we must continue to convene\, engage the wisdom of elders\, and work across generations to create opportunity for those who follow in our footsteps. \nPlease fill out this brief survey to let us know how we could be supportive for our community during this public health emergency.
