SE Uplift Virtual Week of Action

Each year, SE Uplift hosts Earth Day litter pickups, clean-ups, and events with staff, neighborhoods, and community partners.
This year, SE Uplift will celebrate earth day with a week-long virtual earth week! Starting Monday, April 20th through Friday, April 24th we will be sharing activities, livestream events, share information on recycling and waste-related topics, fun reuse tips, and more!

Land Use & Transportation Committee
In honor of earth day, April 22nd, SE Uplift will be hosting a week of environmental-themed activities, educational opportunities, and more. We will start with our LUTC which will focus on
environmental advocacy actions and policy and a special presentation from the Oregon Environmental Council.
Mon. 4/20 7 pm (approx. 2 hrs.)
Register in advance for this meeting!
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
Placemaking & How City Repair is Responding to The Pandemic
City Repair Project presents the history of their placemaking projects around the city of Portland and the current state of placemaking during the Pandemic.
Tues. 4/21 5:30 (approx.1 hr)
Ground Score Association: The Beginnings
In this lunchtime presentation with Ground Score Association, members Barbie and Christine will talk about their program’s history and mission.
Ground Score is a new community group that does awesome projects like hiring houseless workers to collect & sort recyclables and trash that would otherwise be left on the ground or shipped to landfills

Natural Building and Earth Art
Join City Repair Project activists for a brief history on Natural Building and Earth Art, as well as ideas and resources to make natural art at your home as a way to be creative and share art with neighbors during this shelter in place time.
Natural buildings are structures created by using minimally-processed, plentiful, or renewable natural materials such as straw, clay, wood, and stone.
Thurs. 4/23 5:30 (approx. 1 hr)
Earth art, also referred to as Natural art, Land art or Earthworks, is an art movement that uses the natural landscape to create site-specific structures, art forms, and sculptures.
Where Housing, Neighbors & Environmental Justice Meet
Online Presentation by Nupur Patel, Backyard Tiny House, and Laquida Landford and her Afro Village PDX Project. This conversation will focus on housing, community, opportunities and grassroots possibilities!
Fri 4/24 4 pm (approx. 1 hr.)
Join SE Uplift and community partners for a week of Earth focused activities and conversations!
