National Climate Summit Indigenous Youth Video Contest

September 7, 2020

The Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians (ATNI) is requesting video submissions from indigenous youth for a Tribal Climate Change video contest for the National Tribal Leadership Climate Change Summit. Up to four* winners will receive full travel awards ($900 maximum value*) and up to four* runners-up will receive partial travel awards ($400 maximum value*) to attend our in-person Summit in Seattle (May 16-20, 2021).

We want to explore the impacts of climate change through the eyes, experiences, and passions of Indigenous youth. Entrants should submit a video relating to indigenous peoples and climate change, while conveying a message of hope. See our collection of example videos for ideas and inspiration. We are particularly interested in videos that cover one or more of the following themes:

  • Traditional Knowledges: What role do traditional knowledges and knowledge keepers play in the response of indigenous communities to climate change?
  • Youth Empowerment: How are indigenous youth taking the lead on climate action in tribal communities, nationally, and around the world?
  • Climate Resiliency: How are vulnerability assessments, adaptation planning, and promoting resiliency increasing Tribal engagement in climate issues?
  • Climate and Greenhouse Gas Policy: How Indigenous Peoples are leading efforts to address climate policy to reduce greenhouse gases while promoting clean energy, transportation, and green infrastructure.

Encourage your #IndigenousYouth and #NativeYouth to create a video for the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians‘ 2021 National Tribal Leadership Climate Change Summit.

Winners will receive travel awards to attend the in-person summit in Seattle! Please share.
