International Day of Peace – Peace Pole Dedication

FreeEach year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on September 21. The UN General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire.
The Hawthorne Boulevard Business Association (HBBA), Mt. Tabor Neighborhood Association, Hosteling International USA, United Nations Association Portland, and the Greater Portland Sustainability Education Network (GPSEN) are co-hosting this year’s
International Day of Peace

This year’s International Day of Peace theme is “Shaping Peace Together”. The event will include:
- A welcome speech and land acknowledgement
- Peace pole dedication
- Local speakers
- Closing reflection
The small gathering will honor social-distancing guidelines and will be live-streamed via Zoom for the community.
