With beautiful photos and entertaining stories, Chet Orloff will take us from the gardens of antiquity forward to the great documentary gardens of the 18th and 19th centuries and finally to the gardens of our own Pacific Northwest. He will discuss the work of some of the great names in garden design, including Brown, Jefferson, and the Olmsteds and what they contributed to our current garden tradition. Executive Director of the Oregon Historical Society from 1991 – 2001, Chet teaches urban studies, history, and planning at Portland State University and the University of Oregon School of Architecture. He is founding president and director of the international Museum of the City. Chet has served on the Portland Planning, Landmarks, and Arts & Culture commissions, as well as the Portland Parks Board and numerous other city, state, and national boards and committees.
