Social Justice in STEM

What are some harmful yet pervasive ideas that uphold oppression through false notions of nonpartisanship in the sciences/STEM? Can scientists be activists? What place does social justice have in science? What does it mean as scientists, to perform science that is mindful of the environment and all the communities that our discoveries and technologies may affect? What does it mean as scientists to show up for and empower underrepresented groups in STEM? What are we doing now? What can we do better?
