Metro Bond Nature for All Celebration

December 4, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

Greater Portland residents said yes to clean water, healthy fish and wildlife habitat, and nature close to home by investing $475 million in their regional park system. Results show Metro’s parks and nature bond measure passing with 67 percent of the vote, making it possible to buy and restore land, improve Metro parks, build trails and support community projects across Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties.

Through this bond measure, Metro is taking bold steps to make sure all people benefit from investments in nature – especially people of color, Indigenous people, people with disabilities and others who have often been ignored or harmed by public investments. This is an historic moment for advancing equity in greater Portland.

Progress is possible thanks to partners and community members like you. Hundreds of people contributed time, energy and ideas to shape the next two decades of investments in the region’s parks and nature system.

We hope you can join us from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4 to celebrate the accomplishments – and relationships – that we are building together. Please RSVP here to let us know you’ll join Metro and The Intertwine Alliance for this special evening of food, drinks and fun.

Of course, today is just the beginning of the next chapter in greater Portland’s commitment to healthy lands and healthy people. Over the coming months, we’ll reach out about ways to get involved in selecting projects and bringing the new bond measure to life.

In each of the last two years, we’ve asked voters whether they support the investments that make our region livable and affordable. This election is further evidence that the work we’ve done for decades at Metro is supported and understood by our region.

We are proud of Metro’s track record improving greater Portland through investments that affect people’s everyday lives, from parks, trails and natural areas to affordable housing. We hope you’ll also join the conversation about investing in safe, reliable transportation.
